1. Chunky Stripes Throw
Size: My finished blanket is approximately 40” X 40” and I’ve given instructions for customizing to any size.
Stitches Used: Floret Stitch, half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc) and slip stitch (sl st).
Techniques: 3 colours are used, a main colour and two contrasting colours. Colour changes are made at the end of rows.
Skill Level: Easy, suitable for beginners
Yarn: I’ve used Paintbox Yarns Simply Chunky although any chunky weight (#5) can be used. You’ll need approximately – Main colour 894yds; Contrast Colour (1) 298yds; Contrast Colour (2) 298 yds
How It’s Worked: Worked flat from the bottom up in a sequence of colours and stitches. The blanket is finished with a border of half double crochet using all three colours.
The floret stitch worked in different colours really makes this stitch pop!
2. Harvest Crochet Blanket
Size: The finished blanket measures approximately 46″ x 44″.
Stitches Used: Primarily uses single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), foundation single crochet (fsc), and a unique harvest stitch that creates texture.
Techniques: Worked in long strips that are joined together. Tassels are added to the ends of the blanket.
Skill Level: Rated as easy/advanced beginner.
Yarn: Uses bulky weight yarn (#5), the designer has used Lion Brand Hue + Me. You’ll need 1438-1538 yards total, with several contrasting colours suggested (e.g., Fatigues, Arrowwood, and Spicy).
How It’s Worked: This crochet chunky blanket is worked in long strips, which are then joined with slip stitches to create the final piece.

3. Easy Crochet King Size Blanket
Size: The pattern is written for a king-size blanket, though it can be adjusted for smaller sizes.
Stitches Used: The primary stitches are single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc) and double crochet (dc).
Techniques: Blanket includes working a filet pattern. A border of shell stitches is used to finish the blanket. No complex techniques are required.
Skill Level: Suitable for beginners.
Yarn: Uses super bulky weight yarn (#6). The designer uses Baby Snuggle (chenille). Any #6 weight yarn can be used. Approximately 2900 yards of yarn are needed for the king-size version.
How It’s Worked: The blanket is worked in rows.

4.Mystical Chunky Blanket Pattern
Size: Instructions are included for four different sizes – Lovey (30” x 36”), Crib (40” x 60”), Lapghan (45” x 50”), Throw (60” x 72”)
Stitches Used: The pattern features half double crochet (hdc) and single crochet (sc).
Techniques: Stitches are worked in front loop only, back loop only and the third loop alternating across the row.
Skill Level: Beginner-friendly.
Yarn: Uses super chunky weight yarn (#6). The designer has used Amigo Giga from Hobbii. Yardage is approximately 875 (1225, 1285, 1780) yds.

Size: The blanket measures approximately 47″ x 66″.

6. Sky Clouds Blanket
Size: This blanket measures approximately 40″ x 34″, making it perfect for a baby blanket, lapghan or as a small throw.
Stitches Used: The pattern uses Tunisian crochet, utilizing the Tunisian simple stitch (TSS), Tunisian purl stitch (TPS) and surface bobble stitches.
Techniques: Crocheters will need to know how to perform basic Tunisian crochet techniques, including how to use a Tunisian hook and work with multiple yarn colours.
Skill Level: Suitable for beginner to intermediate crocheters with some experience in Tunisian crochet.

7. Mitered Rectangles Lapghan
Size: This pattern is for a lapghan blanket, 48” X 54” although instructions are included for increasing the size.
Stitches Used: The pattern uses single crochet (sc).
Techniques: This modern striped crochet blanket is a mitered rectangle. A mitered rectangle is another way to crochet on the bias.
Skill Level: Beginner level
Yarn: Lion Brand Yarns Re-Spun Thick & Quick which is a super bulky #5 weight yarn. You will need three colours – Whipped Cream (MC): 840 yards (4 balls), Sunshine (CC1): 400 yards (2 balls). Night Sky (CC2): 420 yards (2 balls)
How It’s Worked: Worked in rows.
This easy crochet blanket is perfect for beginners who are ready to venture out from crocheting blankets in rows.
8. Forest Lodge Chunky Throw Blanket
Size: The lapghan measure approximately 41” X 30” and the Throw: 41” X 50”
Stitches Used: Even moss crochet stitch; slip stitch (sl st) alternating with half double crochet (hdc).
Skill Level: Suitable for beginners.
Yarn: The lapghan requires 636 yards and the throw, 1060 yards of super chunky yarn (#6). The designer recommends Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick.
How It’s Worked: This throw is crocheted from the bottom up and worked in a one row repeat.

Techniques: Tapestry crochet is used in this design. The unworked yarn is dropped at the back of the work on the wrong side before being picked up again to work it in the next row.
Skill Level: Intermediate. In this pattern, you will be changing colour. You should already have knowledge of basic stitches and terminology.
Yarn: The designer recommends Lion Brand Hue & Me in the following colours: Agave 6 skeins (822 yards/750 grams), Terra, 3 skeins 411 yards/375 grams), Mustard, 2 skeins (274 yards/250 grams), Spicy, 2 skeins (274 yards/250 grams), Salt, 2 skeins (274 yards/250 grams)
How It’s Worked: The blanket is constructed in rows.

How It’s Worked: The blanket is worked in simple single row repeat. The modern stripe pattern is created by alternating thin and progressively thicker stripes.

15. Kaleidoscope Chunky Crochet Blanket
Size: 49” x 71”. You can easily adapt the size to your desired project size. Each square is 45 cm / 17.75”.
Stitches Used: Half Double Crochet (hdc) and Double Crochet (dc).
Techniques: Basic crochet techniques.
Skill Level: Easy
Yarn: the pattern recommends Zeeman Julia (bulky weight (5); 6 Skeins in light blue, 3 Skeins in each of rust, hunter green and mustard
How It’s Worked: this blanket has a unique blanket construction. Each square is worked in one piece. First, a triangle is crocheted, stitches are then picked up along the side to crochet the next triangle. It is made out of 8 squares which are sewn together. Stitches are then picked up along the long sides to crochet the main colour side bands.
Reversible, this blanket is a great project if you’re looking for something different than working in rows that is visually appealing.
16. Sawyer’s Afghan Tutorial
Size: 44” x 49” approximately.
Stitches Used: Single Crochet (sc) and surface slip stitch.
Techniques: Surface Crochet.
Skill Level: Easy.
Yarn: Requires Main Colour 792yds, Accent Colour 144yds of super bulky (#6).
How It’s Worked: The base of the blanket is made first with the faux cables added at the end. The faux cables are worked by adding surface crochet.
This pattern includes a chart for the surface crochet placement.

How It’s Worked: The blanket is made in rows, from the bottom up and is finished with a border on two sides.

18. Continuous Granny Square Blanket
Size: Any
Stitches Used: Double crochet and chain stitches.
Techniques: Magic Ring. Crocheting in the round
Skill Level: Suitable for beginners.
Yarn: Chunky yarn – although this pattern can be used with any weight yarn
How It’s Worked: The blanket is made working one large granny square in rounds.
